Verity Mentoring Program
Verity is a private women’s club located near our neighbourhood that holds to the essentials of developing the whole woman, and acknowledges the very real desire of every woman to reach beyond themselves and to be significant in the lives of others.

Mary Aitken, Managing Director and Founder, feels very strongly that it is vital to her club members’ development to have opportunities to really impact their community. To this end, in addition to the regular fitness and social opportunities Verity has in common with other clubs, Verity offers a rather unique and innovative opportunity for their members to welcome women who are not members of the club to come and spend a day at the club’s fitness and spa facilities sharing in each other’s company. The group of women at this monthly gathering is kept small so as to encourage openness and good conversation.

On the first Sunday of each month, approximately 10 members of the club and 10 ladies from the Regent Park Community, who are connected somehow with 614, gather and have breakfast together. They then share various spa and fitness activities together while getting to know one another. Lunch concludes what has always been a beautiful and relaxing experience for everyone. The women from Regent Park thoroughly enjoy the day and, as many have commented, they are made to feel very special and beautiful (the whole point of a spa experience for every woman!).

The women from Verity gain a great deal from the experience as well. Many have commented on what a beautiful opportunity it is to get to know women they would not normally have the opportunity to meet. As one woman put it, “It’s so good for me to see life from another perspective and to understand that it’s not all about me”. What has always amazed all the women involved is the realization that despite differences in background and circumstance, they actually have a lot in common.
