
Dreaming in Colour
Purpose:
To support people in improving their quality of life.
To help people become productive, functioning members of the community.
To encourage people who feel stuck to move forward.
To encourage and support people to fulfill their dreams.
To equip people to contribute to their community by walking through the process of returning to school, going back to work or volunteering
Dreaming in Colour is a 12 week program which includes 8 weeks of classes and 4 weeks of job/volunteer placement in the community. Phases 1, 2 and 3 are classroom-style sessions taught by Dreaming in Colour staff and other seasoned facilitators from various fields, both within The Salvation Army and outside. Phase 4 is the placement opportunity.
Phase 1: Goal Setting Seminar and Personal Planning Partnership Program
Each participant is connected with a personal planner and meet weekly to discuss goal planning and receive support through barriers and set backs.
The basis for the next 12 weeks of the program is established.
Communication styles and conflict resolution are covered in order to prepare participants to cope within the group itself.
Phase 2: Life Skills Course
Phase 3: Employment/Education/Volunteer Placement Preparation and Readiness
Phase 4: Apprenticeship, Employment, Registration in an Educational Program or Volunteer Placement
