Why join the 614 network?

Why join the 614 network? What are the requirements and the benefits? Firstly, it needs to be understood that “614” per se, is not a model or a formula. It is not a way of doing things, a step-by-step that will result in guaranteed success for any would-be church planters or leaders. Nor is it a panacea for revival in difficult urban communities. The main benefits that the 614 network offers are relationship and resourcing.

Relationship

The opportunity to be in intentional relationship with others who are committed to and involved with incarnational urban mission and ministry. There is great encouragement and support in knowing that there are others out there with a similar vision, working through the tough questions and hard answers in similar contexts.

Resourcing

Through notices of job opportunities, gathering points (ie the bi-annual Urban Forum); presence on the 614 network website, notices of relevant events and conferences; the sharing of resources such as books, articles, music, videos and other forms of media.

Brand management

The right to use the 614 brand. There are presently three “official” 614 logos in use, two incorporating The Salvation Army red shield and one without.

Collective influence

There is strength in numbers and so there is value in having a collective voice in order to advocate on behalf of urban ministry and the priority of this as a mission stream.
