614 Regent Park

614 Regent Park began in 2000 when a committed group of incarnational leaders began prayer walking and living in the neighborhood. Led my Majors Geoff and Sandra Ryan, these prayer walks were the catalyst for the vision of 614 to be birthed. A community worship and celebration service began in February 2001 in a local community center. Now ten years on 614 Regent Park is a well-respected church and community presence with its leaders sitting on and leading many community partnerships. The vision of 614 has spread to many other communities around the world and led to the formation of the 614 Network.

The Community of Regent Park

Regent Park is the largest housing project in Canada and one of the country’s toughest neighborhoods. Situated in Toronto’s inner-city core, at the heart of the most densely populated sector in the country, “The Park” is home to over 12,000 people with over 100 nationalities represented. Regent Park is a complex mix of languages, cultures, displacement and generational poverty, the effects of which include drugs, prostitution and violence. However, there are signs of hope. Transformation is needed, and in fact the entire community is currently undergoing a physical rebuilding. Community renewal is a slow process, one that cannot solely involve the rebuilding of buildings but must involve the holistic transformation of our neighbors as well.

Although you will find many ministries/programs in 614, the corps remains committed first and foremost to prayer, worship and fostering meaningful relationships between people. We are a diverse group of people, united by love for God and commitment to our community.
