Leaving WL

Our farewell from WL is too fast approaching. Everything filling my days points to the reality of leaving my first appointment. Sunday was my last 'preach', today was my last women's bible study, tonight was my last band practice...with more 'lasts' to come. I have shared with our corps that I hate saying goodbye. If I had it my way I would slip away in the middle of the night and then call folks and say, "hi, what's new?" but Rick won't let me! Why does saying goodbye seem so difficult?
So when I feel like this, I turn to Jesus' words when He was preparing to leave and say goodbye, it is my favorite verse in the NT, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

Deana,

Wow - I didn't realize that tonight was your last band practice and that your guys' farewell is coming up really fast... Sure are going to miss you - but at the same time very excited to see and hear about the new and exciting things that you guys will be doing and experiencing.

You are right though, good byes are horrible, and I totally dislike saying goodbye to people... so I feel ya on that one. But I know that as the days come closer to you guys leaving, that God will help you... and i know that he will help me, and others too... to say Goodbye... but be encouraged and remember, goodbye doesn't mean for ever... its just for a season! :)

"...there is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven..." (ecclesiastes 3:1)

Yes goodbyes are hard for me too...my choice is also to avoid when I can. If its hard to say good bye though doesn't that mean the you really care for someone? You feel close to the person so it can feel like a part of you is being torn away. Yes parting with the whole Zelinsky family will not be easy...there will be a hole there for awhile. We will remember you in our prayers and as the seasons come and go our paths may cross again. Nice thing with the internet...so much easier to keep in touch. So much I want to say..you have taught us, you have blessed us, you have made an impact, you have been friends, you have cared, but most of all each one of you is special and you are loved. May your path be filled with many new adventures and may the people that you meet along the way be a blessing to you as well. So its not goodbye..but see you later. Sharon D.
